The book format is inspired by the well-loved early reader  “Bob book series” It is sturdy paperback booklets – in a sturdy box so kids can keep the set together. To build a love of each story, we wanted each one to have its own color and booklet – and for kids to interact with as much joy as other beloved book-sets. We have seen children sort through the books and ask “which ones have we read so far?! What’s next?!” and hold up which one is their favorite one i.e. “my favorite is Maryum (as)!”

It is currently in a sturdy paperback, mirroring the fun way young kids learn from the popular Bob Book Series. inshallah, in the future, if the books are successful  – we hope to print enough copies that a board book version might be economical as well.

As described in the About page, My First Heroes is a “sadaqah jarriyah” project – meaning we hope to generate good for generations to come, inshallah! We aim to contribute all proceeds from the sales of educational materials on character building towards 3 main initiatives:

  1. Sharing Beneficial Knowledge – equipping families to help nurture everyday heroes.
  2. Children’s Wellbeing – donating meals to children without access to regular, healthy meals.
  3. Environmental Wellbeing – working to be carbon negative – ensuring we do not hurt the environment by our paper-usage and etc.

Every part of every story has Quranic citations directly inside the book. If we couldn’t cite a specific passage from the Quran to backup a part of the story, we did not include it. There is only one story that is not 100% drawn from specific Quranic ayahs – and that is the story of Hajar (as). That one also relies on authentic ahadith – we cited which portions within the story as well.

The book was carefully reviewed by at least five students of knowledge and hafiz of Quran. It has also been reviewed by the scholars noted in the testimonies page. Further reviews are always welcome – we are always happy to edit and looking to improve, inshallah!

The book has been reviewed and edited by more than 60 parents over the course of 5 years, many of whom worked as educators or researchers before also homeschooling their children.
